many blood trails, and many recoveries.
It made me remember a hunt with my best friend Jaclyn. We were so noisy I don’t know how we ever even saw a deer that day. Anyway, some doe showed up and Jaclyn couldn’t get a rest, so I got on my hands and knees, and she got a good rest off my back. I don’t know what we were thinking, I’m guessing we weren’t, it happened so fast. We don’t even remember if she got the deer, we just remember laughing and enjoying that day together.
It’s nice to travel back sometimes…. Remembering those hunts or conversations. When I heard that Dave Roose had gone to his eternal home, I felt like I was led to go back through my old CBA magazines and I just sat down and read some of his articles. Although I didn’t get to hunt with him, it was comforting to just read his words and be thankful that God had allowed our paths to cross and to remember the times that we got to spend together at CBA events. I stumbled across this poem that he had written, and I want to share it with you all.
His Place
There’s a hope for all God’s people
a place we’re traveling to,
where there’s love and peace forever
and great blessings ever new.
We made a choice to know Him
we wait to see His face,
oh, how great the expectation,
oh, what joy to share His place.
Up there we’ll bow and praise Him,
as we stand about and sing,
and the things of earth won’t matter
cause we have a better thing.
Those days will be forever,
beyond our measured kind.
We’ll never tire of praising Him.
our Lord, the King of Kings.
Former things will pass away,
behold all things are new,
for tears and sorrow, pain and death
are gone; yes, heavens true.
The Lord will come for us real soon,
that’s what our Bible’s share,
and those on earth who’ve trusted Him
will meet Him in the air.
Any minute, any moment,
in the twinkling of an eye,
we’ll be going on to His place,
somewhere far beyond our sky.
By David L Roose
This verse stood out to me so greatly… “Former things will pass away, behold all things are new, for tears and sorrow, pain and death are gone; yes, heavens true.”
Honestly, I felt like God allowed me to read that, like it was a note from Dave himself. What joy filled my heart!!!
I may not have been on a hunt or a recovery with Dave, but one blood trail we have both been on is the blood trail straight to the cross. We may not know on this side of earth the lives that are
changed simply from a love of archery committed for use to be a witness for Jesus Christ, but I can assure you that one day we’ll all be together in heaven!
I think if Dave could send you one more message, he’d say…
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1Corinthians 15:58
Keep hunting, keep sharing Jesus… and that’s how we’ll keep… “Aiming for that Higher Mark!”
